The New York Rangers have made significant roster changes this offseason, but they still need another skilled forward to improve their offensive production. After adding players like Pavel Dorofeyev and Oliver Bjorkstrand, the Rangers are now being urged to sign Patrik Laine, a former Montreal Canadiens sniper, to give their lineup a much-needed boost.
Patrik Laine could be a low-risk, high-reward addition for the Rangers. After missing most of last season due to injury, Laine could provide the team with additional scoring depth. The Rangers finished the 2024-25 season with a 34-39 record, placing them 16th in the Eastern Conference, and need more firepower to compete next season.
Laine could fit well on the Rangers' second line alongside J.T. Miller and Alexis Lafreniere. His power-play skills would be a significant asset, as he scored 15 of his 20 goals last season on the man advantage. Alternatively, he could play on the third line with Noah Laba and Oliver Bjorkstrand, providing secondary scoring.
While Laine is an intriguing option, the Rangers should also consider other free agent forwards. Anthony Mantha, who had 33 goals and 64 points last season, could be a strong addition to the second line. Michael Bunting, though less prolific, would bring a physical edge to the Rangers' top nine.
